In addition, Tesla’s power bills have been dropping steadily for many years. In the US, a typical household electric bill is about $35 per month, or $1,000 per year. In Mexico and Brazil, they can be up to $20 per month.

This is very low by world standards.

In fact, Tesla charges $5,000 a year for electricity delivered to homes.

In a previous article entitled “Tesla Energy”, I described how the first two “Tesla” product, the Roadster and the Powerwall, were conceived, developed and launched.

The Roadster and Powerwall were sold by Tesla in an all-electric “supercar” vehicle configuration, and Tesla sold the first three cars between March and September 2006.

Since that time, Tesla’s Energy Systems Division has introduced a number of further product lines (e.g., Powerpack, Powerpack 2 and Ultra Powerpack), some smaller and more expensive. The final “supercar” Tesla Model S was announced in April 2014.

It can be said that since the beginning of 2009, Tesla Model S owners in every country save at least 40% (for a typical new car owner) compared with comparable US electric vehicle owners.

Tesla claims the average US consumer’s energy bill is about $1,350 per year.

Tesla sells a range of Powerwall chargers for use in homes and in businesses. These chargers cost $250 for a single powerwall unit and $500 for a four-pack.

Tesla’s energy system provides power to homes, offices, hospitals and restaurants when the power requirements exceed 15 kWh/day for most homes (~11 kWh/day for large buildings and 50 kWh/day for high-rise buildings) and for about 20 kWh/day for all homes with between two and four units. This amounts to a typical US home with at least two employees charging an ordinary solar panel on their rooftop.

Tesla claims that for average US consumers, the average electric bill for solar is about $10/month.

Tesla’s power bill is a factor in several of their other decisions – like buying low-carbon electricity, building new battery installations and increasing energy efficiency, according to the company’s website.

As a result, they are now investing $6.4 billion in the company’s battery manufacturing facility in Nevada, a process that will take about five years.
