How did Tesla’s free energy work? – Standard Free Energy Change Formula

The electric car company launched a program in September that uses solar panels to generate power. By providing electricity free to Tesla vehicles, the company says that it’s reducing the global impact of global warming.

“With Elon, we are excited to be able to accelerate the path toward a low-carbon future,” said Lyndon Rive, Tesla CEO and a co-founder.

“We are excited to be working with SolarCity and our existing and future partners in the clean energy economy to make solar power cost-competitive with fossil fuel power in the U.S.”

The program, which started in Sept., is called Drive Clean. Tesla’s plan is to provide electricity to customers at no cost for charging their cars. It includes a solar roof option as well as a solar inverter as a backup power source. Customers will have to purchase their own solar panels.

Tesla is offering up to three free EnergySage solar panels to customers who already own solar panels in a Tesla vehicle. The program is open to Tesla owners or lease-holders as well as homeowners who have installed solar panels, install in their homes.

The company’s Model S sedan now boasts the highest percentage of miles driven driven while the vehicle is on electric power. A Tesla Model S consumes up to 5 kilowatts of electricity per hour while in cruising mode (at 50 mph), according to the company.

The company is also testing a “range anxiety” seat that can take away the power of the steering wheel if it exceeds the range the driver wants to reach. Tesla is not selling these seats in its cars currently.
