“I feel like my fingers pick up more than my hands, but it’s definitely still hard to play. I like to play a little bit harder. It does make it more of an adjustment. Some times I’ll just fingerpick, I’ll just play the tune and let my fingers get it. It’s kind of a mind game; you just have to figure out where your finger sits during one section and where your hand sits during another section. I’m happy with where it is now.”
So what’s next for you?
“Well, I’m going to keep playing this, but I’m going to kind of have my hands away this time next year. I’m just really happy with how things are going, and as long as it’s up and down, that’s what I’m going to be.”
You’re going to play the next year off-line. How is that different from how you normally play?
“I feel like the hardest part of playing off-line is getting used to all of the changes in music, how the beats change. It’s kind of nice to have all these instruments for that. I’m kind of getting used to that. You get a little comfort with it, but once you get a hold of it, it’s really hard to leave. I’m definitely still excited about playing it, but I’m kind of just focusing on playing other things instead.”
A lot of people say that this is the hardest part about live playing guitar…
“You know, it is tough for sure, especially in this time, because a lot of bands seem to be doing it in more places. The thing is, you have to get used to it in the beginning. It gets tough, the way we’re playing that song right now. I’m really nervous about what’s coming up, and I’m still looking forward to playing it, but like I said, I’m just happy about the way things are going and how they’re progressing.”
There’s still a lot of stuff on this album that hasn’t come out yet. What’s up with that?
“Oh, man, we’ve got a whole lot on there that hasn’t been released yet. We’re still working on stuff. I’m trying to take as much time off as needed and work on new songs, and that’s the end goal. It’s not just a matter of being a band for the rest of the year and putting out a bunch of stuff
