How do you make a puppet face? – How Do Ventriloquists Say P

There are several kinds of facial movements. Most puppets have two main facial expressions – the mouth opening and closing as well as closed eyes when not doing much. Some puppets have 3 facial expressions and even more “grips” which allow the puppeteer to move his or her hands to the side when a movement is needed to make a facial expression.

One of the common facial expressions I use is a “grin” as seen here by Kip Tafoya.

Other things to remember when making a puppet are being a good puppet maker and make sure you pay attention to facial movements and body movements as well. If your puppets were puppettes but weren’t created with puppetry in mind, you will have issues. Just remember that puppetry doesn’t have to be scary or hard. It can be fun and simple and it will get your blood pumping! If you have any questions, feel free to post them below!

Here is a fun puppet puppet with a cute clown face.

Do you want to make a funny puppet? I like this puppet from the movie “Willy Wonka”.

Here is another puppet from the movie, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” starring Tom Hanks and Sally Field.

I have written so much about making puppets I don’t feel like posting anymore! Check out some of my other projects about make a puppet:
