Is lap dancing legal? – Why Is Pole Dancing Bad

We can find out. In addition to the fact that you might have your own private dancers in town, this post explains many of the laws of lap dancing to help you make an informed decision.

The Legal Status of Lap Dancing

If you plan to do any sort of “sensual” lap dancing at a hotel or other public venue in Las Vegas, Nevada, you must have a licensed Nevada massage therapist on site. The Nevada Commission on Professional Medical Conduct (CPMC – the Nevada Medical Care Quality Association) regulates massage therapists, and most massage therapists must have a license, either from APMAs or NCMPA.

This is for one of two reasons: They want the public to know that they are there to improve health, and that they are licensed in Nevada. And they want to make sure people aren’t going to harm themselves – or others – in the process.

Also, massage therapists work with patients in their private rooms, so they should have the same “client-patient” relationship with clients. This means that a massage therapist can perform any type of erotic sexual activities with a potential client, but they may not actually touch a person’s genitalia in that way or induce any specific sexual response.

This does not mean that you can’t have a massage, by all means. There are many people who enjoy it. But if it’s your profession, the CPMC, the state licensing commission, has rules for massage therapists. You might want to check out Nevada Medical Care Quality Association and Nevada Medical Board’s Web site.

What’s the difference between lap dancing and dancing for compensation?

According to Nevada law, it is no “slight exaggeration” to describe “lap dancing” as consensual. This means that no professional can be held liable for sexual conduct or sexual exploitation of others. However, Nevada’s law is quite vague and is very difficult to understand.

It’s pretty similar to “sex in a hotel room” – except that if, for whatever reason, you were involved, you are liable for your act. In other words, you are responsible for the act.

This means that there is always an expectation of privacy, which the CPMC encourages anyone who may have an issue with a specific public venue or employee to be aware of. That’s especially important if you are a public employee, since you will be representing yourself and/or the hotel.
