VIP: I have worked with a couple women that are very sophisticated in pole dancing. Because I have learned a ton in a short period of time, I have had the opportunity to come to these women and teach them and get their experience of the game and that’s exciting. A lot of people will come here and ask me questions. I tell them, ‘If you want to know how the game works, go find one of these dancers who is just as sophisticated as us, but is not going to be the best at it. Those dancers will be able to relate to a lot of the basic ideas that my girls understand.

How do you teach?

The first step is to teach the girls in a manner that they trust, is not intimidating and encourages them to do what we do. It’s a collaborative process where we get into their space, they try to explain their ideas and ideas do come out, they are usually the best at it. We don’t come out and say, ‘Look what we can do. This is what the girls do. This is their idea,’

When is pole dancing in a gym?

If an event is going for a particular length of time, I would not suggest setting up something that is just for the sake [of being in] a studio. There is more to pole dancing than just the two-hour workout session, but it’s not about that. I have never tried to do shows at a gym. They are not as important to me and I don’t have the time or desire to do them.”

What makes the industry so lucrative for you?

I get a lot of money from that. It was really important to me and I’m so grateful for everything that is happening. I really don’t see that I am in the money. I have always been happy with my life and it is just nice to not take anything for granted. I don’t want to spend all my money and then get it back with interest from somebody else. It doesn’t sound like a great thing to me – to get paid a million dollars from my time and effort that isn’t even my time. I take that as a compliment and I feel like that is a huge compliment for someone like me who doesn’t have a million dollar job. It’s important to me that that’s the only money I spend.
